Locus is the treasurer of the Allegience, which is one the most important jobs within the Allegience itself. As a child, they lived in the western part of the country, which is rural and rich in fertile soil that attracts farmers. They were raised by their parents that come from a long lineage of farmers in the west, and helped out with the farm at a young age. They became accustomed to tending to the land and animals, and soon their parents started homeschooling them; They were most interested in mathematics than any of the others, their parents noticed. As they grew older, they began to help manage the finances of the farm alongside their parents, and took up public school for most of their teenage and early adult years, getting decent grades on other subjects with hard work, but generally only being interested in math and finance. They continued their education with early admission to a university and got a professional degree, teaching finance and mathematics in their mid 20s. They continued to do so, being highly praised and renowned for their skills, until a letter came in the mail telling them that they were being drafted into a special intelligensia allegience working for the government. Excitedly agreeing, they now reside in the capitol Palace in the north, doing their job as a treasurer in the allegience to financially maintain, question and support the Sovereign (Lynux)'s demands for managing the country. They were nicknamed Locus by Lynux to enforce his authority, their actual name is Iko.
(I use Locus instead of Iko when talking about them because it's referred to by the main characters more in dialogue, and when discussing things with my friends they get confused if I refer to them differently than Locus (since having two names for one character is quite hard to manage sometimes!) Luns calls them Iko when Lynux isn't around, due to him being quite intimidating. Locus does the same for Luns, reffering to them by their real name, Filyn, when Lynux isn't around.)
Locus themselves was raised well by their family to be kind to others and try to make friends. Locus did make friends as a kid, but only the few local kids they met, and since starting public school didn't see them as often ... They made friends at school too, but the pressure to be perfect and kind always, and to never be openly upset with someone made being honest with others hard. They have lots of surpressed irritation and feelings that they don't know how to manage at times. Luns, their partner, is trying to help them work through this, since they still struggle with it and their conflicting feelings on Lynux, as well everything that's happened in the Allegience during their time being there. After the incident with Lynux and their parents, they took up unhealthy ways of coping like drinking, and smoking (which is quite common in the country to do so, since its a large trade paradigm with other countries and a valuable export from the country, being plentiful, but this still negatively affected them and they're trying to stop at the advice of Luns (who has done research into what little medical expertise against it has come to the public surface) but is having a very difficult time doing so.)) They used to be good friends with Lynux, being sociable, but many things since then have changed their relationship a lot. Outwardly, little has changed in their conversing with each other.
